On 9 June Stella supported the launch of the London Citizens CitySafe scheme at St Barnabas Church in Markhouse ward. Father Steven Saxby, Parish Priest of St Barnabas Church, has persuaded several shops in the area to become safe havens for young people who are being chased or feel threatened on the streets.
The safe havens include two shops on Hoe Street, Art Cafe and Vinn Dry Cleaners; two shops on Markhouse Road, Budo Store and Markhouse Food and Wine; and Al Haq takeaway on Queens Road.
